Known Bugs/Glitches

IMPORTANT - WIN 3.1 USERS!!! - The Amulet of Returning may not always work for you. I strongly suggest you save your game prior to using it. I can offer no rhyme or reason why this is so. Players on Win 3.1 platforms tell me it is erratic - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I will continue to work on a fix for this, but until that time - BEWARE!

Custom, wandering outside monsters may appear as random pieces of terrain and/or monsters that randomly change as they move about. I can't fix this; it's a BoE bug.

You may encounter a monster named "Empty." These critters can be killed with one blow, and seem to appear randomly. I've seen them in other scenarios as well. BoE itself is placing them in the scenario, as far as I can tell. Until someone comes up with a way to prevent them from appearing, or until the glitch in BoE is fixed, we all have to suffer. Hey, they're great for target practice! If you find one, please let me know where. I have a method of pest control...

If you record the responses of Mayor Bono and some others into your journal, some of the second parts of individual messages may be quite different from what they should be. This is a bug in BoE that occurs when a special node is used to deliver a text response in a talking dialog box. For example, Mayor Bono will respond to the key word "storage" differently, depending if you already have a key or not. While the text that appears on screen is correct, the text that is stored in the notebook is NOT. I first noticed this problem in "The Election." I know of no way to get around this bug.

In the Maze Race, the steeds may attack the audience. Nothing bad will come of this (fingers crossed). I may fix this someday, but as it involves a complete re-write of that area, it will have to wait for now.

Occasionally during testing when entering a town, I would receive an error message about calling a node out of range. No other testers reported this. Re-opening the save file seems to fix this. My advice is to save just before entering a new town/level.

Please report all bugs to me at bxb11@psu.edu. Thanks!
